"It's all about vibrations." Iconic percussionist Clayton Cameron dives deep into the connection between rhythm and the dynamics of performance across multiple pillars - mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional. Known throughout the jazz realm as the Brush Master, Cameron's career has spanned the past four decades. He has toured with Sammy Davis Jr. and Tony Bennett, as well as other jazz legends including George Shearing, Joe Pass, and Joe Williams. During Clayton’s time with Tony Bennett, he performed with artists such as Frank Sinatra, Billy Joel, Sting, Mariah Carey, Brandy, the Backstreet Boys, James Taylor, K.D. Lang, Elvis Costello, and Ricky Martin.

Director Biography - Christopher Leps

For more than 30 years, Christopher Leps has played an active role in cinematic storytelling. His diverse career began over three decades ago as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle character performer with the Walt Disney Company.

Chris' background in martial arts and gymnastics led to a deeper dive into the human performance realm as an athletic trainer, certified nutritionist, action choreographer, and stunt performer - appearing in over 180 television episodes including Alias, Star Trek: Enterprise, Westworld, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and more than 40 feature films such as Avatar, The Adventures of Tintin, Patriots Day, and the Pirates of the Caribbean saga. Chris is a two-time Screen Actors Guild Award Nominee for performances in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and a two-time SAG Award Winner for performances in 24 and The Mandalorian. He was also a 2018 Taurus World Stunt Award Nominee for Best Fight Scene (Pitch Perfect 3.)

As an acknowledged filmmaker, Chris first stepped behind the camera in 2002 and has written, produced, directed, and edited projects across commercial, documentary, short, and feature categories. Blending filmmaking with his extensive action background, Chris has designed, coordinated, captured, and cut a variety of sequences as a previsualization (previs) producer—creating live-action visuals for the action scenes on an array of movies and TV productions.

A life-long enthusiast of films, music, and the outdoors, Chris is energized by the imaginative process and the artistry of bringing new concepts to life across multiple formats and environments.

Director Statement

I first met Clayton Cameron in 2016 through a mutual friend. Though he is humble and soft spoken, he radiates a palpable energy, and within five minutes of talking with him, I thought to myself, "This is a fascinating individual." His passion for life, laughter, and most of all, MUSIC is evident in every manner of his conversations. He is a true artist, musician, and performer. The music enthusiast in me always wanted to sit in on one of his jazz sessions... and the filmmaker in me always wanted to document him in action. After several years of knowing each other, I finally had the chance to do both, resulting in this collaboration. Clayton and I share a zeal for the incredible role that music plays in human existence and how it is woven into so many aspects of our lives. Music is connection... to the past, present, future, and to our inner selves. In this film, Clayton graciously shares his journey in the music world; his gravitation toward percussion at an early age, his extensive entertainment experiences, and his relationship to human performance. My hope is for this piece to serve as an illustration of the fact that we are all connected through the universal power of music!
