Dream Code is a hi-bit pixel art short that pulls back the curtain on the making of The Entropy Code. Through richly detailed, 90s-inspired visuals, it explores the film’s creative DNA—its simulation-theory roots, its alien worlds, and the artistic process that brought them to life. Both a love letter to classic adventure game aesthetics and a behind-the-scenes featurette, Dream Code blends visual nostalgia with modern sci-fi concepts to give audiences a rare glimpse into the creative mind of its director.

Narottama Panitz is a filmmaker, writer, and visual artist based in Elkridge, Maryland. With a passion for storytelling rooted in simulation theory and existential exploration, Panitz is best known as the creator and director of The Entropy Code, an ambitious sci-fi narrative that explores the blurred boundaries between reality and artificial worlds. His work blends vivid pixel art with rich, philosophical narratives, creating a distinct style that resonates with fans of classic adventure games and sci-fi cinema alike.

Panitz’s journey as a filmmaker is deeply personal, as seen in his autobiographical featurette Dream Code: The Story Behind The Entropy Code. This project, crafted in pixel art, reflects on his life, inspirations, and the motivations behind his larger creative vision. In addition to his work in film, Panitz is the founder of the rap group The Freeloadas, showcasing his creative versatility across multiple art forms.

Director Statement

With Dream Code and The Entropy Code, I wanted to explore the blurred lines between creators and their creations, drawing on theological ideas in a modern, tech-driven world. The characters in the simulation worship their creators as gods, which makes us question the nature of power and belief. In reality, these "gods" are just overworked interns and corporate workers. It’s a fun contrast, showing how faith can exist even in flawed systems.

Both projects mix ancient questions about divine control with today’s fears around technology. Who’s really in charge? And how do we deal with forces bigger than us—whether that’s AI or something more spiritual? Through these films, I aim to touch on that uncertainty while keeping things relatable.
