Kuimeaux’s World – Ed Eaves, Benny Turner (Bronx, New York)

Kuimeaux’s World

Kuimeaux’s World is the story of a little-known Arkansas artist and his love for the South, expressed through his art. It’s also about his oldest, closest friends joining one of his sisters to preserve his creative legacy and help him realize his final dream. Dwight “Kuimeaux” (KEY-moe) Drennan, born in Little Rock in 1950, created paintings and drawings that often depicted mythic scenes of life and the natural world of the Delta region of Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. When he died in 2022, he left behind more than 300 artworks. The film is a passion project of the three filmmakers—Benny Turner, Ed Eaves, and Sonny Gault—who were friends with Kuimeaux (and with each other) since they were schoolmates at a small school in rural Arkansas in the 1960s. Chris Maxwell, who composed the film’s score, was also a long-time friend of Kuimeaux, going back nearly 40 years. 2026; 71 min.
