Writer/Director Aisha Evelyna announces herself as a major new voice with this fiercely personal feature debut. SXSW World Premiere. A chance encounter on the street brings Nola, a struggling sous chef, face to face with her estranged, unhoused father. As she takes him under her care, long-buried wounds resurface threatening to unravel her even more. Aisha Evelyna’s directorial debut "Seahorse" is a meditation on what it means to both offer and receive compassion and forgiveness in a broken world. -ZB Director bio:Aisha is a Toronto-based actor and filmmaker committed to realizing stories that centre the marginalized. In 2024, Aisha won a Canadian Screen Awards for Best Lead Performance for her work on the comedy series "The Drop" and was nominated for Best Director. Aisha was named a ‘Screenwriter to Watch’ by the Austin Film Festival and her short film "Alex" (2022) was named a ‘Vimeo Staff Pick.'
