A despondent man journeys by foot through the vibrant streets of Cap-Haïtien to reconnect with his estranged, dying father. Accompanied by a lone street kid and his camcorder, he grapples with memory, vulnerability, belonging, and a  love of place. Shot entirely in Haiti, Elisee Junior St Preux’s "The Tropic Sun and His Eye" weaves these themes into a tender portrait of a son in search of himself within his father and his country. -ZB

Elisee Junior St Preux is a Haitian-American filmmaker and actor born in Miami, Florida. His ultimate mission is to change the stigmatized depiction of Black and Caribbean boys and their fathers with a more loving, vulnerable image. Elisee’s goal is to share stories that reflect the present, honor the past, and reimagine the future.
