In a small county called Wary, there's an ongoing string of harrowing murders of teenagers happening deep in the woods. In the latest case, sole survivor SUSANNAH FIELDS is berated with an array of questions to which she does not know many answers—except one. She's never seen anyone look the way that person in the woods did. 

Director Biography - Jovan Brooks

Jovan Brooks was born on July 4th, 2000. He is a writer, director, and actor who was born in Maryland. Jovan graduated from Towson University in 2022 with a B.S. in Electronic Media & Film and a minor in Theatre Arts. His thesis short coming-of-age romance film, 'Summer Eclipse', won a Capitol Emmy Student Production award, among being accepted to 8 film festivals. Jovan currently has two upcoming films: short horror 'The Many-Faced Monster', and short coming-of-age 'Firecracker'.

Director Statement

I wrote The Many-Faced Monster based on a personal interest in the Uncanny Valley phenomenon. This is a hypothesis on a human nervous reaction phenomenon proposed in 1970 by Japanese roboticist Masohiro Mori. When someone or something appears almost human, but not quite fully human, there is a distinct feeling of uneasiness. One of the most intriguing examples of the Uncanny Valley seeping into our world is the existence of uncomfortably scary-looking police sketches. These two interests along with my love for coming-of-age stories inspired this film, which was produced in Maryland.
