Description:
Long Dance is an homage to the body. It is an inside look that shows the treasures that it possesses. It is rediscovery and acknowledgment. Is the empowerment of the body, of everything that builds it over time and a way to honor it. It is constant movement, wisdom and experience.
Dance film resulted from a creative process and body lab of the work with seniors and elderly people in vulnerable nursing homes in marginalized zones in Hermosillo, Sonora, México. This project begins with the body as a starting point to explore all physiological and emotional possibilities of the elder participants. More than 100 elders participated in this project and many of them star in this dance film. In this process the main objective was to reconnect with their body as a container, to find the way to empower themselves through movement and to honor their body embracing all the living experience through their lives.
Director Biography - Ana Paula Ornelas Favela
Based in the Sonoran desert, contemporary performer and choreographer Ana Paula Ornelas Favela has been developing movement investigation, stage and artistic work since 2009. Starting her artistic journey working as a dancer for choreographer Miguel Mancillas in Antares Danza Contemporánea, she has since branched out into collaborations for theater, dance film, and delving recently into choreography and direction. She also participates as an assistant director for several stage artists in México. She currently investigates community work and artistic projects with social impact in marginalized groups in relation to her work.
