The story of Sovanna – the daughter of a Cambodian American refugee family that owns a donut shop in Long Beach, California – who struggles to connect with her parents and pursue her artistic ambitions following her older sister’s death.


Director Biography - Roan Pearl

Roan is a writer, director, and producer originally from Oakland, CA. She is currently studying Film and Television at UCLA and Literary/Development Manager for Highball Media, a young artist's film and theater collective committed to challenging form. Prior to her entry to the film world, she was immersed in performance training from the age of 11 with particular dedication to Meisner, Viewpoints, and Neo-expressionist dance. When not working in film, she can be found at her current day-job in museum events planning and as an Intern with Film Independent.
