Devin Reuben is training to be the first certified nimiipuu whitewater guide of his generation. The nimiipuu (Nez Perce) have a long history of river travel– in fact, they introduced the practice to settlers– but centuries of displacement and disconnection means Tribal members are now largely absent from their ancestral rivers. Devin says, “it's one big step for us: not just me, all of us. We're slowly bringing our culture back.”

This short is told through the stories of those living on the frontlines of environmental collapse. There are no flames in this film. Only the aftermath: a landscape held in suspension, its growth arrested by fire and extraction. We see the scars that these flames have left on both the forests and the indigenous people who live within them. The forest bears its history in wounds, as do the Indigenous communities who live within it. They continue to fish in waters laced with chemicals, to speak of long dead trees, of food systems cultivated over millennia, of animals disappearing, and of national authority complicity in illegal conglomerate and single family colonization. What emerges is a portrait of interruption - of land and sovereignty. At its center is a question of rightful return: to territory, to continuity, and to recognition.

Surrender to the Sound is about Angel City FC’s unrivaled women’s soccer supporter groups, dubbed ‘La Fortaleza,’ as they devotedly take on their second inaugural season. In particular, this film focuses on one main character, Lesly Vanessa, as she navigates her personal struggles through her second family, AC Pandemonium, one of Angel City FC’s official supporter groups. Other supporting characters, such as Ruby Badio and Kris Resari, emphasize the passion and hard work of a women’s soccer supporter. Through this primarily verite film, the supporters stay loyal through loss, and not only redefine what it means to be a women’s soccer fan, but to represent LA.

Surrender to the Sound

"It's Only Love" (2025) explores grief through a posthumous collaboration between the filmmaker and her father. Recontextualizing decades-old home videos, the film contrasts time and perspective before and after a parent’s death. Blending formats, aspect ratios, and media, it creates an intimate space where grief, honesty, and humor unfold.
