Grappling with the effects of colonialism and imperialism involves confronting the complex legacy of historical domination, which often includes cultural displacement, economic exploitation, and social inequality. The struggle to reclaim and redefine cultural identity becomes paramount in these documentary and narrative films as individuals and communities work to reconnect with their heritage and find their own place in the world.

"Stay Awhile" follows Isiah, a young Indigenous person from Oxford House First Nation, as he adapts to urban life in Winnipeg, MB. Amidst feeling misplaced and isolated, his encounters range from misunderstandings to poignant moments of loneliness. His narrative brightens when he befriends Peyton, a fellow native student, offering him a new sense of connection. This film, crafted by a 100% Indigenous cast and crew, originates from the Winnipeg Indigenous Filmmakers Collective's Skodoodsiden Project. It vividly captures the essence of cultural adaptation and belonging, providing an authentic portrayal of Indigenous urban life.
