When Eli's African father becomes ill, he sends Eli to a traditional healer, the prophetess, with a bottle of water for her to anoint. The prophetess, who serves the African immigrant community in their Canadian neighborhood, follows their native customs. On his way home, Eli encounters his "Canadian" friends and, ashamed, throws the bottle away. To his friends, the prophetess is a mythical figure they've heard wild rumors about. Later, Eli returns to retrieve the bottle, but the water has spilled. He must face both his father and himself.
