A team of researchers uncover the true story of their hometown heroine —legendary sharpshooter Annie Oakley. Through these women's efforts to know Annie, we learn about the nature of legacy, community and place. Director bio: Bryn is a documentary filmmaker based in Louisville, Kentucky. She was named one of Filmmaker Magazine's 25 New Faces of Independent Film in 2024 and she was a 2025 Film Independent Documentary Producing Fellow. Her films have been distributed on POV, Criterion, Netflix and more. Her work explores myth making and self-determination.

An experimental portrait of the filmmaker’s grandfather: Carroll B. Williams Jr., a ground-breaking African-American forester, reflecting on his work and legacy in the twilight of his life. Director bio: Mars Verrone is an Emmy-nominated filmmaker, musician, and educator from Los Angeles, CA, currently based in Brooklyn, NY. Most recently, Mars directed, produced, edited and composed original music for their short documentary, "Buckskin," about their grandfather Carroll B. Williams, a ground-breaking African-American forester. Mars is a Sundance Documentary Producers Fellow, NBC Original Voices Artist Mentor and Fellow, PGA Create Fellow, Firelight Media Impact Fellow, Brown Girls Doc Mafia Sustainable Artist Fellow, Dear Producer Mentee, and was selected for DOC NYC’S 2024 “40 Under 40” cohort. Their work has been supported by Sundance Institute, Ford Foundation, Field of Vision, and the International Documentary Association, among others.

Director bio: Sydney is an American documentary filmmaker and researcher whose work explores identity, memory, and community through intimate and experimental storytelling. With a background in nonprofit advocacy and fundraising, she approaches filmmaking with curiosity, care, and a commitment to meaningful impact.

The Navajo language is spoken less frequently across generations. However, its resilience endures in a small Navajo radio station, the director's family, and the people of the Navajo Nation. Director bio: Malakye Tsosie, who is from the Navajo Nation, aims to tell honest, unapologetic stories that reflect his cultural identity. He wants to join a group of storytellers who honor and connect with people's stories and truths.

A devoted Washington Commanders fan has spent more than 50 years building a collection of team memorabilia. As the team reckons with its racist legacy and redefines its identity, he sees a final opportunity to preserve the collection. But preserving the past proves complicated. Between giving impromptu tours, writing to team ownership, and facing his wife’s pleas to declutter, he is forced to confront the contradictions in the legacy he holds dear. Director bio: Khaula Malik is an Emmy Award-winning filmmaker based in NYC. She most recently co-produced "Girls Slate" and is currently in post on her first feature doc, "The Nobles" which has received support from DOC NYC and the Catapult Rough Cut Retreat. Her work has been supported by Sundance, HBO, Doris Duke Foundation, CAAM, PBS, and others. She served as a programmer for True/False from 2022 to 2024.
