David Friend is a journalist, editor, author, curator, and producer. He is a Vanity Fair contributing editor and was LIFE’s director of photography. The doc short "Maurice and Marvin" (2026) is his directorial debut. His executive producing efforts include "MLK/FBI" (Oscar-shortlisted, 2021) and two Emmy-winning films, "Lakota Nation vs. United States" (2024) and "9/11" (2002).
