Our film followed a group of brick-makers from Bundelkhand to a kiln in Bindki, UP. Our interactions with the female workers allowed exploration into the personal spaces

within the brick kiln. We befriended Gaura, Keshkali and Ramsakhi and connected with them on problems about family, parents and partners. This friendship and the characters’

effervescence and strength inspired us to build a story around their lives.

Our documentary’s team, led by women from diverse backgrounds carry the experience of working on stories of gender, caste, class, climate change and sexuality with a feminist lens. Our working experience helped us realize that we have much to learn from these women workers, especially the way in which they navigate through work and life in the brick kilns. Through everyday-life activities, and conversations with women, we get an insight into economic vulnerabilities, such as debt, existing in the rural areas of a neo-liberal India.
