Nestled amongst the oak tree-strewn foothills of Santa Rosa lie the headquarters of a Sonoma County institution—The Bird Rescue Center. The 17% follows the journey of a young woman with Down syndrome who was rejected from every job she applied to. Now, she has her own bakery and hires other people with disabilities. The film sheds light on the statistic that only 17% of neurodivergent individuals find employment, leaving theremaining 83% unemployed. This disability owned bakery is trying to change the world one cookie at a time.
