This collection of Asian documentaries offers an intimate window into the lives, histories, and struggles of communities across the diaspora. From deeply personal stories to urgent social issues, these films shed light on voices often overlooked, capturing resilience, memory, and transformation with honesty and care. Together, they form a powerful mosaic of lived experiences that not only inform but inspire, reminding us of the strength and complexity of Asian stories on screen.

In a small California town, a 100-year-old Chinese restaurant gets ready to close. As Paul Fong retires, this short film follows him and his wife Nancy beyond the headlines—through quiet moments, old family footage, and the slow process of letting go.

Director Kristie Chow and Jeffrey Wu

Kristie Chow is a first-time filmmaker and longtime online storyteller. Before making Chicago Cafe, she spent years creating videos about Chinese American food history on YouTube. She previously led product teams in consumer tech and, before that, worked as a crime beat reporter. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Kristie now spends most of her time thinking about food, legacy, and the people behind the counter.

Jeffrey Wu—aka Mood Infinite—is a Chinese-American filmmaker based between Los Angeles and Taipei. Bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese, he specializes in documentaries that explore family ties, culinary culture, and the immigrant experience. His latest feature, Chicago Café, follows in the vein of earlier works like Another Spring (新春再臨) and The Distance Between Us (我們中間的距離).

Before helming documentaries, Jeff cut his teeth as a video editor at 88Rising and a video journalist for Phoenix TV (凤凰卫视). Today, he leads Popeye Media (www.popeyemedia.la) full-time—directing music videos and branded films that bridge cultures with a forward-thinking visual language.
