As a senior undergrad, he's a Jon M. Chu Cinematic Arts Scholar at the University of Southern California: School of Cinematic Arts studying Writing for Screen and Television.His script "Traingazing" was chosen from over 100 scripts to be produced as a USC senior thesis film with a $10,000 budget, winning Best Drama Short Film at Veneto International Film Festival. His most recent short film "Sonata" (Writer &amp; Associate Producer) won Best Drama Short at the Independent Shorts Awards, was nominated for Best Drama Short at North Hollywood Cinefest, and won Jury Favorite Short at the Silicon Valley Asian Pacific FilmFest."All the Time" is Josh's directorial debut, which he hopes resonates with anybody with a beating heart. Above all, he seeks to tell stories about the beauty, pain, joy, sadness, love, and heartbreak that remain immutable from the human experience.

Inspired by his idol and wanting to impress the teacher he is crushing on, 13-year-old Juan Po gets a DIY perm done by his father. Now he must survive an entire day at school with a mangled ‘fro. Director Biography - Maria Victoria Ponce﻿<img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/eventive-static/d2af80d6f9b1f5b568a900513162b0a7.png" width="235"> Maria Victoria Ponce was born in her grandmother’s dirt-floored kitchen in rural Michoacan, Mexico. Ponce’s work navigates the complexities in the routine lives within poor and working-class neighborhoods: themes of immigration, sexuality, and coming of age tend to recur. Through film, she aims to highlight the breadth and depth of the Latine experience in the Bay Area. Ponce is a fellow at Sundance/WIF Financing Intensive, Film Independent Fast Track and an artist resident at SFFILM FilmHouse. She was a finalist for Tribeca/AT&amp;T Untold Stories. She received grants from SFFILM Rainin, PBS – The Latino Experience and The Berkeley Film Foundation. Most recently she was named the Rainin Fellow in Film through the Kenneth Rainin Foundation and the LPB Digital Media Fund 2024.

Perm and Circumstance

A short documentary about spirited 92-year-old June Aochi Berk—from prewar Little Tokyo to living in a horse stall at Santa Anita Park during WWII to the Rohwer concentration camp, and finally to being crowned Los Angeles’ Nisei Week Queen. It explores the weight of mental health struggles while emphasizing the importance of continuing to move forward, even when progress feels impossible.
