Digital Histories is an ongoing creative community of Asian American aunties and uncles turned documentary filmmakers. Supported by Visual Communications, these filmmakers hone their craft through theoretical and practical filmmaking workshops. In a year marked by social unrest, intense wildfires, and the quiet gravity of passing and transition, their practice became a sanctuary for collaboration and community. Together, their resilience brings to light stories that only they can tell.

Growing up innocent and carefree in Watsonville, California, a young farm girl’s life collapses after Pearl Harbor as her family is ordered to evacuate and imprisoned in a desert internment camp in Poston, Arizona. Enduring heat, hardship, and indignity, she survives through it all, carrying the memory into old age.

Director Biography - Glen Tao

Glen Tao is a lifelong artist who grew up on a strawberry farm in Watsonville, California. From an early age, Glen's passion for art and photography evolved over his lifetime. After retiring from a 38-year career in healthcare in Los Angeles, Glen was introduced to filmmaking. With this new skillset, he was drawn back to the past seeking answers to unanswered questions. His storytelling is a reconciliation of the past with the present, and the rediscovery of memories before they are forgotten or lost.
