STAND UP FOR JUSTICE
A collaboration of VC and National Coalition for Redress and Reparations (now Nikkei for Civil Rights & Redress), funded by grants from the Civil Liberties Public Education Fund and the California Civil Liberties Public Education Program, this narrative drama and accompanying curriculum guide were produced following more than 5 years of extensive research and interviews with friends, schoolmates, and family of Ralph Lazo. This video includes scenes from the 30-minute drama, and interviews from the companion video on the making of Stand Up for Justice, a film based on the true story of a Mexican American high school student who stood up for his Japanese American friends during WWII—by choosing to live in confinement with them at Manzanar concentration camp.
