Voices With Impact in conversation with Cassandre Dunbar from the Be Well Sis Podcast.

Black Women & Mental Health on Screen is a short film program followed by a live conversation between Chris Hyde, Director of Voices With Impact, and Cassandre from Be Well Sis, a podcast and community dedicated to wellness and mental health for Black women.

Be Well Sis has built a space where conversations that mainstream wellness culture too often ignores get the room they deserve. Cassandre will discuss what it means for Black women to see their inner lives reflected on screen — with honesty, care, and without compromise.

Looking Glass is a narrative short film that illustrates how invisibility is often intimate, personal, and impactful to mental health. Blending elements of dance and Afro-inspired rhythms, this journey to self-love invites the audience to examine the true cost of our inner-critics.

Inspired by personal experiences and West-African trickster god Anansi, this film has been crafted with a mirror to our human experience. In Looking Glass, Anansi uses cunning creativity and wit to remind Asha of who is, and should be most important to her - herself.
