The J. Ronald Terwilliger Center for Housing Policy is pleased to present an original video raising awareness of America’s housing affordability crisis, the acute housing supply shortage, and potential solutions.

We look at two individual stories to showcase both the problem and solutions.

Rabbi is a father from Afghanistan who served as an interpreter for the U.S. Army. He came to America with the hopes of building a better life for himself and his family. Despite working multiple jobs, he couldn’t find an affordable place to live.

By encouraging private sector investment, the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit helps subsidize the construction and rehabilitation of affordable rental homes for low-income tenants. This allowed Rabbi to rent a safe, decent home giving him more time to spend with his family.

Adaora is an ambitious young woman dedicated to her studies and career aspirations. After her mother died, at age 16 she entered the foster care system. With the assistance of the Housing Choice Voucher program, she was able to find affordable housing to rent. This allowed her to get financially stable enough to continue her studies and look forward to someday becoming a homeowner.
