An experimental, cameraless animation created from handmade macroalgae celluloid and bio-sonified seaweed. Developed in collaboration with CSIRO marine scientists, "Ode" embodies post-petrochemical cinema in a time of ecological crisis.

Director bio:

Kirsten Hudson is a transdisciplinary artist-scholar of colonial settler heritage, based in Western Australia. Her 25-year practice moves across expanded cinema, camera-less film and photography to examine how women’s bodies are narrated, regulated and mythologized and how life, loss, transformation and human/nonhuman kinship are rendered through analogue, chemical and environmental processes.
