Director Biography - Gerry Hwang
Gerry Hwang is a Korean American writer/director born in New York, raised in Seoul (South Korea), went to high school in London (United Kingdom), and is currently based in Los Angeles. With a strong academic foundation in cinema history and theory from his bachelor’s in Cinema & Media Studies and Advertising from Boston University, he wishes to tell culturally and aesthetically meaningful narratives that resonate with wider audiences.
After directing several student short films, including The Lonely Jazz Singer (2024) and Reminiscing of Decay (2024), his senior thesis project, Han (2026), serves as his most personal and passionate project, which was written, edited, and directed by himself.
