Our final film block of the festival focuses on hope, and on action. You will see the world through the eyes of a budding young entomologist, passionate conservationists, and ordinary people who become change makers as a form of resilience. This block ends with a "grand" adventure that takes us on a 1,000 mile journey driven by the love of one animal, ending right here in Astoria, where the river meets the sea.

Thanks to our event sponsors Salty Raven, Columbia River Maritime Museum, International League of Conservation Photographers, Pro Photo Supply, Astoria Co-Op, Cannon Beach Book Company, and Tuff Puffin for helping us to bring these incredible films to Astoria!

The Grand Salmon is an environmental documentary following the journey of three women who paddled 1,000 miles to recreate the journey wild salmon make each year to the Pacific Ocean. With eight dams along the way, these women experience why salmon populations are dwindling and explore what must be done to bring them back from the brink of collapse.
